WHAT IS THE SOLUTION? (for healthcare reform)

We know that physicians are the ones getting the squeeze from all ends when it comes to health care. You have to deal with bureaucracy at all levels, especially when it comes to insurance carriers in terms of authorizations for treatment as well as payment for services rendered among other things. We are interested in your opinion as to what you think it will take to improve our nation's healthcare system.

Help with generating a list of patients

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am using Lytec 2007 for my office, where there are 4 docs.

Now, is there a way I can just pull out the total number of patients seen by all providers for a given time-frame..??

I have tried getting the patient ledger report, but it does not give the total number. It gives a list, and counting that is a bit.. of hassle..!!

Patient Payment

Say a patient came in today and he is showing a balance for $45, after insurance paid and all that. He pays the $45 to clear his balance, is there a quick way to apply that payment to zero out his balance, rather than having to go to the specific billings and applying it ? Thanks

Cancellations

In Lytec 2009, if a patient calls to cancel, we right click on the appointment in the schedule and delete it so that time slot can be available for scheduling another patient.
Problem is once the appointment has been deleted, there is no record in patients past/future appointments that they cancelled, so when it comes to them asking for refills without wanting to see the doctor, there is no way for us to check if they cancelled or what happened to their last appointment.
Is there a better way ?

Posting Insurance payments

Although we auto writeoff and auto remittance posting, sometimes we get a check that we have to apply as Insurance payment. We go into apply insurance payment, enter the check amount at the first screen, but when we go to apply it to billing - item level and apply the auto writeoff from the fees schedule, it messes everything up and shows a balance. Part of the reason could be the prepay applied as copay which we already know is not a great feature in Lytec. The patient balance just gets messed up, so not sure why it's doing that ?

No Show

How do handle no show charges in the schedule, we have a $50 no show charge how can we handle that in lytec, right now we just put in an hold code/alert box to collect this the next time, does anybody know a better way ?

Could you please please advice on how to handle deductables when:
1) We call and verify the benefits for a new patient and they have a $ 500 deductable to meet before the insurance pays anything. Where would be the best place to enter that, I am thinking in the apply copay as prepayment - $ 500 and then each time the patient is seen and pays out of pockey, apply that towards the balance until the it is all used up ?
2) EOB comes back as zero paid due to deductable (we are using Relay Health ERAs and auto write off is working )

Also if took a payment as deductable from the patient but later on their insurance paid how do we handle that refund ?

We kind of know what to do but not sure. Thanks in advance for spreading the knowledge,we do appretiate it.

Medisoft-how to leave box 24I blank?

I was curious if anybody knows how to get medisoft basic v15 to leave box 24I BLANK!! ive deleted everything out of the pin tabs on insurance carriers and providers and unchecked the box "automatically calculate blank PIN qualifiers" and it still generates a qualifier 1G in the box. All i want it for it to remain blank...any solutions???

Statement Management

When running statements for a new billing cycle, if there is an outstanding bill, the new statement is going back and grabbing the previous billed entries and combining them in the new statement, but when you go to the edit button on the new statement, it shows only the current charges, not the previous ones. It combines invoice numbers on the new statement. The previous statement is still there, ready to be rebilled, but it has been put on the newer statement. Any ideas? I enter a from-to-date for the new statements, but it still picks up the old statement.

Conversion error from 2006 to 2009

We are getting the following error while converting from Lytec 2006 to 2009:
"

one or more unexpected statuses were encountered during the conversion. These status codes most likely represent serious problems with the conversion and should be checked out"

According the documentation a direct upgrade seems to be supported. Any help would be greatly appreciated
